ABOUT OUR GOLF PROFESSIONALS

JUNIOR ACADEMY DIRECTOR
I grew up in Suffolk in the UK and I was always into sports as soon as a kid. I got a half set of clubs for my 12th birthday and as soon as I started playing, I was hooked. I joined the local club for sterling pound 100 and got to work on getting my handicap down as low as possible. Within a couple of years, I managed to get down to low single figures. I represented my club, which went on to win a number of scratch cups before being selected for the country squad. I finished my amateur career at a +1 handicap and played all over the UK in national championships.
I relocated to Ireland to start my PGA training in 2007. Our residential learning and examinations were held at the PGA Training Centre at the Belfrey in the UK which was affiliated to Birmingham University. During my training, we were encouraged to play and maintain a high level to make sure we are able to compete in regional professional events. A highlight of my training was winning the PGA Assistants Championship back home in Suffolk.
I graduated in 2010 as a fully qualified PGA Professional with a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Golf Studies. The modules included: coaching, children in golf, biomechanics, sports psychology, golf fitness (TPI), club fitting, club repairs, retail and business management.
In 2011, I moved to Doha (Qatar) to start a new coaching role. My job was to develop a corporate golf program for companies in the region, working closely with Doha Golf Club. I enjoyed the experience living and working in a completely different working environment which left me wanting to travel even further afield.
I moved to Singapore in 2013, initially to start a coaching role which led to deciding to take a shot at playing on the Asian Tour. I graduated from Asian Tour Qualifying School in 2014 at Springfield Golf & Country Club in Hua Hin, Thailand with status to play on the Asian Development Tour (ADT). I had a great experience playing in a number of events in 2014 and left knowing more about what it takes to play golf at a high level.
in 2015, I joined Champions Golf and was tasked with setting the junior academy. I have always had a passion for coaching junior golfers and passing on my knowledge and experience to the next generation of golfers. In 2023, I moved over to Keppel Club. I now run weekday junior programme and constantly strive to create a fun learning environment for the kids with a long-term goal of giving kids the opportunity to succeed.
I'm a big advocate for group coaching rather then learning individually for the younger kids. This tends to bring out the best in them and we use alot of gamification to keep the kids engaged. I have a 4-year old son who is already showing an interest for golf. I'm a big believer that we learn alot about life through the game of golf and I'm excited for him to start his journey. Whatever level he gets to, the most important thing for me is that he is having fun and as parent that's all that really matters. Being a parent to kids in sport is a tough one to navigate but the only thing kids want their parent to say "I love watching you play" that s all. No telling them what to do or how to do it. Just keep it simple.

""Golf is deceptively simple and endless complicated, it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening - and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented"" - Arnold Palmer
I fell in love with the game of golf when I was a teenager. Growing up in the countryside of Santa Fe, New Mexico, I played many other sports such as soccer, ski/snowboarding, ice hockey, lacrosse and basketball.
Golf was the last sport I tried, and I instantly became addicted to the challenges it presented. I became good, really quickly because all I did was practice and play golf from sun up until sun down.
I was accepted into the Professional Golf Management Program at NMSU which was part of the business college. I studied marketing, golf industry classes, worked part-time and played in tournaments. Upon graduation, I felt the urge to travel out of the US and explore.
Thankfully, golf gave me that opportunity and I landed in Thailand having never been to Asia before. I was 23 years old, living on the beach, training and teaching vacation golf schools at one of the best courses in Thailand.

Having been a PGA instructor for over 30 years, I have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with people both from club management/committees and fellow instructors who share my enthusiasm for junior/elite player development.
This has enable me to establish some of the leading junior/elite programs and players in Singapore over the last 20 years, with tournament victories in junior, local, regional and international numbering over 500 including Singapore National Champions, British Women's and Girls Amateur Champion, Asian Games Medalist, SEA Games Medalist, Putra Cup Team Members, Queen Sirikit Team Members and LPGA Tour Member.
Whilst junior high performance development and programs will always be my passion, I have been able to put the considerable knowledge and experience I have gained over the many years of teaching elite players into helping beginners, intermediate and advancing golfers become better ball strikers, smarter course management players and more efficient chippers, pitchers and putters.

""Your next shot is a new experience. It might be the best shot you ever hit in your life"" - Arnold Palmer
I picked up the game when I was still flying around the world as a flight attendant with Singapore Airlines.
The memories are still fresh in my mines as if it was yesterday that I fell in love with the game. Played the game socially for the longest time until I decided to dive deeper into the game and get serious.
I left the airlines and join Champions Golf that's when things got really serious when I felt my game was good enough to take the professional test where I passed on my first attempt and officially became a Pro golfer and be eligible to start my coaching journey.
Golf is like a life where everyday is a learning journey. I must say I'm excited to embark on my new adventure in the golf coaching scene.
